#FactCheck: Fake AI-Edited Video Falsely Attributes LPU Case Remark to Punjab Police Officer
Executive Summary:
A video is going viral on social media with the claim that the protests and unrest at Lovely Professional University (LPU) over the alleged rape of a female student were linked to the nephew of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The viral video purportedly shows a police officer telling the media that the involvement of an alleged relative of Amit Shah had surfaced in the case and that a police team had been sent to Delhi to arrest him. However, CyberPeace Research found that the original video has been digitally manipulated using AI and is being circulated with a misleading claim.

The post caption reads: “Breaking Punjab Police officials have confirmed that Amit Shah’s nephew was involved in the LPU (Lovely Professional University) incident, which took place in Room No. 116 of GH3 Hostel. Officials say they have sent a special team to arrest him.” In the viral video, a police officer is purportedly heard telling the media: “We are receiving information that the person who committed this crime was a BJP worker and a relative of the Home Minister. This incident took place in Room 116 of GH3 Hostel. But now the Punjab Police is fully alert and an FIR has been registered. We will take action. The boy is currently in Delhi, but our teams have been sent there.

Fact Check:
To verify the viral video claiming that the nephew of Union Home Minister Amit Shah was named as an accused in the LPU case in Punjab, we conducted a Google search using relevant keywords. During the search, we did not find any credible media reports in which the Punjab Police had made such a statement. Since the video carries the ‘Crime Tak’ logo, we checked the channel’s YouTube account. During our research, we found the original version of the viral video uploaded on the ‘Crime Tak’ YouTube channel on September 27. We found that the police officer seen in the video is Phagwara SP Major Singh. In the original video available on the ‘Crime Tak’ YouTube channel, SP Major Singh does not mention any involvement of Amit Shah’s relative. Instead, while speaking about the protests at LPU and rumours surrounding an alleged rape and suicide, he says that the police have not received any concrete information or complaint regarding the matter. He further states that if students provide any complaint or credible information, the police will take appropriate action as per the medical examination and investigation process.

Since the police officer in the original video did not make any statement about Amit Shah’s nephew, it became clear that the viral video had been manipulated. To further verify this, we analyzed the audio in the video using the AI detection tool Resemble AI. The tool identified the voice of the police officer in the video as fake.
The Kapurthala Police posted on its official X handle on September 29, 2026, describing the video as fake.
Conclusion:
The evidence gathered during our research confirms that the video of a Punjab Police officer allegedly accusing Amit Shah’s relative has been digitally manipulated using AI. In the original video, the Punjab Police officer did not make any such statement while responding to questions from the media.

They then carried out a bomb blast, creating panic inside the temple campus."

Factcheck
To verify the claim, we extracted keyframes from the viral video and conducted a reverse image search. During the search, we found reports from several credible media organisations clarifying that the video was not related to any real terrorist attack but was from a mock drill conducted to assess the preparedness of security forces. According to a Dainik Bhaskar report published on July 29, a security mock drill was conducted at the ISKCON Temple in Patna. During the exercise, a simulated emergency situation was created in which police personnel were assigned the role of suspected terrorists and were made to enter the temple premises. The drill involved personnel from Kotwali, Jakkanpur and Buddha Colony police stations, along with magistrates and around 50 police personnel who reached the spot and took charge of the situation. An ATS team was also immediately called during the exercise.
The report also quoted Patna ASP (Law and Order) Krishna Murari Prasad, who clarified that the exercise was organised to strengthen the temple’s security arrangements.
A Navbharat Times report published on July 29 also stated that, as part of the planned mock drill, three Bihar Police personnel carrying advanced weapons and hand grenades were sent inside the ISKCON Temple premises. Security agencies responded quickly, cordoned off the area, and the ATS team took control of the personnel and mock explosives, successfully completing the exercise.
During our research , we also found a post dated July 29, 2026, on the official Facebook page of the Home Department, Government of Bihar, regarding the mock drill.
The post stated that the Bihar ATS successfully conducted a security mock drill at the ISKCON Temple premises in Patna. The objective of the exercise was to test coordination between security agencies and stakeholders, quick response capabilities, and the effective implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during a possible terrorist attack or emergency situation. The post further mentioned that the drill included a rapid response to suspicious activity, area sanitisation, safe evacuation of devotees, search for suspects, and other necessary security measures.

The evidence gathered during the research confirms that the viral claim is false. The video being shared with the claim of a terrorist attack on Patna’s ISKCON Temple actually shows a security mock drill conducted by the authorities to assess emergency preparedness.

The artistic community has reached a level where they are questioning their ability to create, which can be recreated by this software in a couple of seconds and without any thought as to what it is doing. OpenAI’s update on ChatGPT makes it simple for users to create illustrations that are like the style created by Hayao Miyazaki and made into anything from personal pictures to movie scenes and making them into Ghibli-style art. The updates in AI to generate art, including Ghibli-style, may raise critical questions about artistic integrity, intellectual property, and data privacy risks.
AI and the Democratization of Creativity
AI-powered tools have lowered barriers and enable more people to engage with artistic expression. AI allows people to create appealing content in the form of art regardless of their artistic capabilities. The update of ChatGPT has made it so that art has been democratized, and the abilities of the user don't matter. It makes art accessible, efficient and a creative experiment to many.
Unfortunately, these developments also pose challenges for the original artistry and the labour of human creators. The concern doesn't just stop at AI replacing artists, but also about the potential misuse it can lead to. This includes unauthorized replication of distinct styles or deepfake applications. When it is used ethically, AI can enhance artistic processes. It can assist with repetitive tasks, improving efficiency, and enabling creative experimentation.
However, its ability to mimic existing styles raises concerns. The potential that AI-generated content has could lead to a devaluation of human artists' work, potential copyright issues, and even data privacy risks. Unauthorized training of AI models that create art can be exploited for misinformation and deepfakes, making human oversight essential. Few artists believe that AI artworks are disrupting the accepted norms of the art world. Additionally, AI can misinterpret prompts, producing distorted or unethical imagery that contradicts artistic intent and cultural values, highlighting the critical need for human oversight.
The Ethical and Legal Dilemmas
The main dilemma that surrounds trends such as the Ghibli trend is whether it compromises human efforts by blurring the line between inspiration and infringement of artistic freedom. Further, this should ensure that the training of AI models is done in a manner that is fair to the artists who are the original creators of a style. Human oversight is needed to moderate the AI-generated content. This oversight can be created by creating ethical AI usage guidelines for platforms that host AI-generated art.
Conclusion: What Can Potentially Be Done?
AI is not a replacement for human effort, it is to ease human effort. We need to promote a balanced AI approach that protects the integrity of artists and, at the same time, continues to foster innovation. And finally, strengthening copyright laws to address AI-generated content. Labelling AI content and ensuring that this content is disclosed as AI-generated is the first step. Furthermore, there should be fair compensation made to the human artists based on whose work the AI model is trained. There is an increasing need to create global AI ethics guidelines to ensure that there is transparency, ethical use and human oversight in AI-driven art. The need of the hour is that industries should work collaboratively with regulators to ensure that there is responsible use of AI.

An Instagram user “ham_313_ka_admi” shared the viral video on March 2, 2026. The text on the video reads: “Cristiano Ronaldo waved the Palestinian flag after Khamenei’s death. Mashallah. Free Palestine.”
Fact Check:
To verify the claim, we searched Google using relevant keywords but found no credible news reports supporting the viral claim. We also reviewed the official social media accounts of Cristiano Ronaldo, where no such video or statement was posted. This raised suspicion that the clip might be AI-generated.
To further examine the video, we analyzed it using AI detection tools. The tool Hive Moderation indicated a 99.9% probability that the video was created using artificial intelligence.
We also analyzed the footage using the Sightengine AI detection tool. The results suggested an 80% likelihood that the video was AI-generated. The tool also indicated that the clip may have been created using Sora, an AI video-generation tool.
Conclusion
The viral video claiming that Cristiano Ronaldo waved the Palestinian flag and chanted “Free Palestine” after the death of Ali Khamenei is AI-generated. It does not depict a real incident and is being shared with a misleading claim.
