Even after the conclusion of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, several misleading claims related to the demonstration continue to circulate on social media. In a similar instance, a video of Delhi Police DCP Sumit Jha is being widely shared, claiming that he resigned from the Indian Police Service in support of the student movement. In the viral video, DCP Sumit Jha is allegedly heard saying that he is resigning from his post with immediate effect and cannot be part of a system that forces him to spread false information against students. The video is being shared with the claim that Delhi Police DCP Sumit Jha resigned from his position in support of protesting students.
CyberPeace Research Wing’s research found the claim to be false. The research revealed that DCP Sumit Jha has not resigned. The viral video was digitally altered by adding AI-generated audio to an original video shared by the Delhi Police on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on July 23, 2026. The manipulated video is being circulated with a false claim.
Claim
A user on Instagram shared the viral video on July 28, 2026, claiming that Delhi Police DCP Sumit Jha had resigned from his post in support of the student protest. The post link, archive link, and screenshot are provided below.

Fact Check
To verify the authenticity of the viral claim, we conducted a Google search using relevant keywords. However, we did not find any credible news report or official information confirming that Delhi Police DCP Sumit Jha had resigned in support of the student protest. During the research, we found a post shared by the official X account of Delhi Police on July 26, 2026. In the post, Delhi Police clarified that a fake and AI-generated video of DCP Sumit Jha was being circulated on social media, falsely showing him resigning in support of the student protest.
Delhi Police also reshared the original video of DCP Sumit Jha, which was posted on July 23, 2026. According to the caption, 480 Pakistan-based social media handles involved in coordinated disinformation campaigns were identified and blocked. Delhi Police appealed to students and young people to remain cautious of such foreign accounts attempting to spread rumours and misinformation. In the 54-second original video, DCP Sumit Jha can be seen warning people against misinformation circulating on social media. He stated that more than 400 Pakistan-based social media handles had been identified for spreading fake content and rumours. He said the objective of such accounts was to provoke people and mislead students.
DCP Sumit Jha appealed to citizens not to trust fake posts, edited videos, or content shared by anonymous social media accounts without verification. He also said that peaceful protest is a democratic right and that Delhi Police respects this right.

A comparison between the original video and the viral video showed that the statements in both videos are completely different. The original video of DCP Sumit Jha does not contain any statement related to his resignation or support for the student protest, as claimed in the viral video. Further, the viral video was analysed using the AI detection tool HIVE Moderation. The tool’s analysis indicated that the audio used in the video had a 91.8% probability of being AI-generated, confirming that the audio was not authentic and had been artificially created.
Conclusion
The research found that Delhi Police DCP Sumit Jha has not resigned from his post. The viral video has been digitally manipulated by adding AI-generated audio to an original video and is being shared with a false claim on social media.

The use of digital information and communication technologies for healthcare access has been on the rise in recent times. Mental health care is increasingly being provided through online platforms by remote practitioners, and even by AI-powered chatbots, which use natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning (ML) processes to simulate conversations between the platform and a user. Thus, AI chatbots can provide mental health support from the comfort of the home, at any time of the day, via a mobile phone. While this has great potential to enhance the mental health care ecosystem, such chatbots can present technical and ethical challenges as well.
Background
According to the WHO’s World Mental Health Report of 2022, every 1 in 8 people globally is estimated to be suffering from some form of mental health disorder. The need for mental health services worldwide is high but the supply of a care ecosystem is inadequate both in terms of availability and quality. In India, it is estimated that there are only 0.75 psychiatrists per 100,000 patients and only 30% of the mental health patients get help. Considering the slow thawing of social stigma regarding mental health, especially among younger demographics and support services being confined to urban Indian centres, the demand for a telehealth market is only projected to grow. This paves the way for, among other tools, AI-powered chatbots to fill the gap in providing quick, relatively inexpensive, and easy access to mental health counseling services.
Challenges
Users who seek mental health support are already vulnerable, and AI-induced oversight can exacerbate distress due to some of the following reasons:
- Inaccuracy: Apart from AI’s tendency to hallucinate data, chatbots may simply provide incorrect or harmful advice since they may be trained on data that is not representative of the specific physiological and psychological propensities of various demographics.
- Non-Contextual Learning: The efficacy of mental health counseling often relies on rapport-building between the service provider and client, relying on circumstantial and contextual factors. Machine learning models may struggle with understanding interpersonal or social cues, making their responses over-generalised.
- Reinforcement of Unhelpful Behaviors: In some cases, AI chatbots, if poorly designed, have the potential to reinforce unhealthy thought patterns. This is especially true for complex conditions such as OCD, treatment for which requires highly specific therapeutic interventions.
- False Reassurance: Relying solely on chatbots for counseling may create a partial sense of safety, thereby discouraging users from approaching professional mental health support services. This could reinforce unhelpful behaviours and exacerbate the condition.
- Sensitive Data Vulnerabilities: Health data is sensitive personal information. Chatbot service providers will need to clarify how health data is stored, processed, shared, and used. Without strong data protection and transparency standards, users are exposed to further risks to their well-being.
Way Forward
- Addressing Therapeutic Misconception: A lack of understanding of the purpose and capabilities of such chatbots, in terms of care expectations and treatments they can offer, can jeopardize user health. Platforms providing such services should be mandated to lay disclaimers about the limitations of the therapeutic relationship between the platform and its users in a manner that is easy to understand.
- Improved Algorithm Design: Training data for these models must undertake regular updates and audits to enhance their accuracy, incorporate contextual socio-cultural factors for profile analysis, and use feedback loops from customers and mental health professionals.
- Human Oversight: Models of therapy where AI chatbots are used to supplement treatment instead of replacing human intervention can be explored. Such platforms must also provide escalation mechanisms in cases where human-intervention is sought or required.
Conclusion
It is important to recognize that so far, there is no substitute for professional mental health services. Chatbots can help users gain awareness of their mental health condition and play an educational role in this regard, nudging them in the right direction, and provide assistance to both the practitioner and the client/patient. However, relying on this option to fill gaps in mental health services is not enough. Addressing this growing —and arguably already critical— global health crisis requires dedicated public funding to ensure comprehensive mental health support for all.

Our CyberPeace Research Team’s investigation clearly reveals that those allegations are based on false grounds. The true interpretation of the video that actually is revealed as Meloni saying thank you to those who wished her a happy birthday.
Claims:
A X (Formerly known as Twitter) user’ shared a 13 sec video where Italy Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni speaking in Italian and user claiming to be congratulating India for Ram Mandir Construction, the caption reads,
“Italian PM Giorgia Meloni Message to Hindus for Ram Mandir #RamMandirPranPratishta. #Translation : Best wishes to the Hindus in India and around the world on the Pran Pratistha ceremony. By restoring your prestige after hundreds of years of struggle, you have set an example for the world. Lots of love.”
Fact Check:
The CyberPeace Research team tried to translate the Video in Google Translate. First, we took out the transcript of the Video using an AI transcription tool and put it on Google Translate; the result was something else.
The Translation reads, “Thank you all for the birthday wishes you sent me privately with posts on social media, a lot of encouragement which I will treasure, you are my strength, I love you.”
With this we are sure that it was not any Congratulations message but a thank you message for all those who sent birthday wishes to the Prime Minister.
We then did a reverse Image Search of frames of the Video and found the original Video on the Prime Minister official X Handle uploaded on 15 Jan, 2024 with caption as, “Grazie. Siete la mia” Translation reads, “Thank you. You are my strength!”
Conclusion:
The 13 Sec video shared by a user had a great reach at X as a result many users shared the Video with Similar Caption. A Misunderstanding starts from one Post and it spreads all. The Claims made by the X User in Caption of the Post is totally misleading and has no connection with the actual post of Italy Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni speaking in Italian. Hence, the Post is fake and Misleading.

Recently, there has been a massive amount of fake news about India’s standing in the United Security Council (UNSC), including a veto. This report, compiled scrupulously by the CyberPeace Research Wing, delves into the provenance and credibility of the information, and it is debunked. No information from the UN or any relevant bodies has been released with regard to India’s permanent UNSC membership although India has swiftly made remarkable progress to achieve this strategic goal.
Claims:
Viral posts claim that India has become the first-ever unanimously voted permanent and veto-holding member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Those posts also claim that this was achieved through overwhelming international support, granting India the same standing as the current permanent members.
Factcheck:
The CyberPeace Research Team did a thorough keyword search on the official UNSC official website and its associated social media profiles; there are presently no official announcements declaring India's entry into permanent status in the UNSC. India remains a non-permanent member, with the five permanent actors- China, France, Russia, United Kingdom, and USA- still holding veto power. Furthermore, India, along with Brazil, Germany, and Japan (the G4 nations), proposes reform of the UNSC; yet no formal resolutions have come to the surface to alter the status quo of permanent membership. We then used tools such as Google Fact Check Explorer to uncover the truth behind these viral claims. We found several debunked articles posted by other fact-checking organizations.
The viral claims also lack credible sources or authenticated references from international institutions, further discrediting the claims. Hence, the claims made by several users on social media about India becoming the first-ever unanimously voted permanent and veto-holding member of the UNSC are misleading and fake.
Conclusion:
The viral claim that India has become a permanent member of the UNSC with veto power is entirely false. India, along with the non-permanent members, protests the need for a restructuring of the UN Security Council. However, there have been no official or formal declarations or commitments for alterations in the composition of the permanent members and their powers to date. Social media users are advised to rely on verified sources for information and refrain from spreading unsubstantiated claims that contribute to misinformation.
