Background

With the rapid digitization of society, particularly among younger generations and underserved communities, there is an urgent need to promote cyber hygiene and digital literacy at the grassroots level. Safer Internet Day 2025 provided a meaningful platform to advance this goal through engaging, community-driven initiatives.

Initiative Overview

To mark this important day, CyberPeace Foundation, in collaboration with its partner institutions, organized a series of Nukkad Nataks (street plays), poster competitions, awareness sessions and rallies across various localities—from East Punjabi Bagh to Jharoda Village. The initiative aimed to raise awareness among citizens, especially children and youth, about key digital threats and safe online practices.

 In Collaboration With:

  • S.D. Public School, Punjabi Bagh, New Delhi
  • Bal Kalyan Sangh, Ranchi, Jharkhand
  • Delhi School of Social Work, Delhi University, New Delhi
  • KIIT, Bhubaneswar
  • Thakur College of Engineering & Technology, Mumbai, Maharashtra

Objectives

  • To educate the public about common cyber threats such as phishing, identity theft, and online fraud.

  • To engage and empower youth as cyber safety ambassadors in their local communities.

  • To promote safe and responsible online behavior through interactive storytelling and community participation.

  • To strengthen cyber hygiene practices at the grassroots level in a culturally relatable format.

Key Highlights

  • Nukkad Nataks were performed by student volunteers using real-life inspired scenarios, making cyber safety education relatable and memorable.

  • Rallies featured creative placards, slogans, and public interaction to spark conversations around digital responsibility.

  • The events witnessed active participation from school children, social workers, teachers, and local residents.

Impact

This on-ground campaign successfully:

  • Reached hundreds of individuals across urban and rural zones.

  • Fostered local dialogue on online safety.

  • Encouraged the adoption of secure digital habits among families and communities.

Conclusion

The Safer Internet Day 2025 celebrations reaffirmed the power of community engagement in advancing digital safety. By taking cyber awareness beyond classrooms and into streets and villages, CyberPeace Foundation and its partners demonstrated how collaborative action can drive meaningful change toward a more informed, secure, and inclusive digital society.
