National Capacity Building Workshop on Cybersecurity, Cyber Hygiene & Financial Safety Under the Sishu Mitra Programme
The Assam Police, in collaboration with CyberPeace Corps, the Department of Financial Services (DoFS), Ministry of Finance, Government of India, and Mastercard India, organised a National Capacity Building Workshop on Cybersecurity, Cyber Hygiene, and Financial Safety under the Sishu Mitra Programme. The workshop brought together Police Officers along with representatives from Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) to strengthen institutional readiness and promote cyber awareness at the grassroots level.
The programme was inaugurated by Sarmistha Barua, APS, AIG (W) and Nodal Officer of the Sishu Mitra Programme, who emphasised the importance of proactive cyber awareness and community-driven digital safety initiatives in addressing the evolving landscape of cyber threats.
The workshop sessions focused on developing Cyber First Responders by enhancing participants' understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, cyber hygiene practices, and financial safety mechanisms. Emphasis was laid on strengthening awareness and preparedness against emerging digital and financial fraud risks affecting institutions and communities alike.
Following the workshop, Major Vineet Kumar, Founder and Global President of CyberPeace, interacted with the Director General of Assam Police, Shri Hardi Singh, to discuss avenues for future collaboration in the areas of cybersecurity capacity building and cyber resilience initiatives.
The workshop concluded with a shared commitment among stakeholders to continue fostering cyber awareness, enhancing institutional capabilities, and building resilient digital ecosystems through sustained collaboration and training efforts.
