Key Discussions and Highlights

The event served as a high-level knowledge exchange between global student delegations and Indian institutional leadership, exploring cybersecurity as a shared global and societal responsibility. Discussions highlighted how cybersecurity has evolved into a critical domain influencing national security, economic stability, and everyday digital interactions. Student representatives from MIT, Columbia, and Harvard shared their perspectives on India’s growing technological leadership, particularly in artificial intelligence, digital public infrastructure, and innovation ecosystems.

The address by Sanjay Jasjit Singh, DG USI, underscored that cybersecurity today is uniquely democratic in impact, affecting daily wage workers and global enterprises alike. His remarks emphasised the necessity of international collaboration, shared norms, and institutional partnerships to secure cyberspace amid rapid digitalisation. The session on Crowdsourcing CyberPeace and Cybersecurity, delivered by Major Vineet Kumar, articulated the principle that in a digitally connected nation like India, every citizen is a stakeholder in cyber resilience. His address covered emerging risks such as deepfakes, misinformation, and synthetic manipulation, stressing the importance of creating a safe, trusted, and resilient digital ecosystem. He further highlighted CyberPeace’s crowdsourced approach to cyber resilience, including

volunteer-driven capacity building, cyber hygiene awareness, and first-responder frameworks. He referenced the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP) and the evolving rules that were enacted in 2025, citing data protection as a cornerstone of public trust and digital governance. Mr. M. A. K. P. Singh contributed insights on contemporary cyber threats in the context of global conflicts, including lessons emerging from the Russia–Ukraine cyber domain. He discussed recent cyber incidents affecting financial systems, market infrastructure, and the importance of cyber hygiene culture, reinforcing the need for institutional vigilance and public awareness.
