Best Practices

1. Keep your devices password protected and update the password regularly.
2. Activate 2-factor authentication on all devices and platforms.
3. Deploy genuine, latest and updated firewalls, anti-viruses and anti-malware software.
4. Upskill yourself and your organisation in terms of cyber security.
5. Conduct mock drills and create working SOPs for cyber resilience.
6. Avoid leaving your device unattended anywhere.
7. In case of using someone else’s device, log out from all platforms once a task is complete.
8. Always keep a check on government-authorised platforms to check for data breaches.
9. In case of any threat, issue or discrepancy, file a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in, 1930 and seek assistance from CyberPeace helpline +91 9570000066

Best Practices 2

1. Visit only websites you are confident in. Look for the padlock icon in your browser's URL bar, which signifies that the website is secure and encrypted.
2. Don't open files from shady sources or click on dubious links. Users can use a free and authentic online virus checker to determine if a link or file is secure.
3. Use a pop-up blocker to stop unwanted pop-ups from appearing on your screen.
4. You might be tricked into installing malware or providing personal information through pop-ups.
5. To shield your computer from harmful software, install antivirus and anti-malware software.
6. Think before you post anything online or share personal information.
